Carolyn’s Office is going to be represented at the AICP Awards this year in THREE different categories!

Blind’s work on Sweet’N Low was shortlisted in the Design Category and Pogo Pictures received nominations in both the Low Budget category for the Doritos “Goat for Sale” and in the PSA category for their Atlanta Humane Society “Gain a Friend” spot. Click on the pics below to check them out!

We didn’t snag any shots with the celebs in attendance at last night’s screening of “Kiss the Water” at the Tribeca Film Festival but we did snap a few of the Film Club, Th1ng and Carolyn’s Office crew at the theater and after party!

“Kiss the Water” is a beautifully shot documentary piece that attempts to posthumously understand the life of Megan Boyd, a solitary woman who became world renowned for her achievements in crafting flys for salmon fishermen. Em Cooper’s unique animation blends seamlessly into the contemplative and sometimes dreamy tone of the piece.

For some Friday inspiration - a snippet of the animation done by Film Club’s Em Cooper for the documentary Kiss the Water premiering on Monday at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Film Club EP, Sue Loughlin, will be attending the premiere on Monday and is taking meetings throughout next week. Let us know if you would like to request some time during her visit.

Animation director Em Cooper from Th1ng Group’s Film Club division will have work shown at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival as part of Eric Steel’s documentary “Kiss the Water”.

This article from Animation World Network describes how Cooper worked in oil paint and animated over live action sequences.

The film will be premiering this Monday, April 22 and will have additional screenings on April 24, 27 and 28 at Clearview Cinemas in Chelsea. You can purchase tickets at this link:

Last week we shared an early look at the music video for Iron And Wine’s new song “Joy” directed by Hayley Morris and over the weekend we received word that it had been chosen as a ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’. This will be the fourth of Hayley’s pieces to receive this honor from the Vimeo site; the others include Bounce, Bounce , Undone,and Health for the Ad Council.

Yesterday, Carolyn’s Office sat down to chat with The Artists Company director Zach Borst.

Zach made headlines last year with this hilarious “Happy Grad” commercial which won air time during the 2012 Super Bowl in Chevy’s Route 66 contest. He also received acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011 for another Chevy spot entitled “Enjoy the Ride”.

Zach writes and edits in addition to directing. He currently has a web series in development.

DUCK Studios designer Richard Borge did all of the type and graphics work on this music video for the song “Step” Vampire Weekend’s soon to be released album Modern Vampires of the City.

This closing title sequence for the film Joven & Aloca, created by Chilean based design/animation/production company Smog, was honored at SXSW last week with the Excellence in Title Design Award.

It also received mention in a recent New York Times article prior to the Oscars which discussed excellent title sequences as unrecognized gems of the film industry. Smog’s work was noted along with the titles for Argo and Prometheus as well as a few select other films.

Smog is part of talent pool represented by DUCK Studios.

Carolyn’s Office took a field trip out to Brooklyn yesterday to meet with Jonathan Dorfman and Szymon Weglarski of HiFi 3D who are represented by DUCK Studios.

We took some time out of our visit to pose with the Emmy which HiFi earned for their VFX work on Boardwalk Empire. In the 2nd pic you can see Amanda about to break out into a practice acceptance speech.

Jon and Szymon have done some amazing work in the past with a number of the large visual effects companies including Blacklist and Framestore before opening their own studio 2 years ago.

HiFi 3D is in the midst of some very exciting projects, both in the commercial and viral worlds, that Carolyn’s Office is looking forward to sharing once they are complete. Stay tuned!

Blind worked with DraftFCB to create the first ever 3D fast food ad featuring the new Cool Ranch Doritos LocosTacos from Taco Bell. You will need to visit a movie theater in order to get the full in your face 3D experience but here is a taste to whet your appetite.
